Alrighty. After some time away from the basement, here is my latest effort:
[audio:https://hellocomein.com/soundbox/hellomusic_greg/flying trapeze.mp3]I didn’t want to take it very far before getting some feedback from yous on the chord progression and verse melody. So, this is intentionally pretty rough at this point – Lots of copies and pastes. It should be enough to get the gist, though.
It’s about a kid who gets tangled in the trapeze at the circus.
so i relistened to this version today and think some of the structural idea i had were a bit off. you def should do this order instead:
intro (4x guitar + 4x w\ other instruments)
verse 1
interlude (Am Am/F# Am D/F#)
verse 2
chorus
interlude
verse 3
verse 4 (maybe? or just repeat verse 1)
chorus
vamp outro (same as intro perhaps)
i think this would be a stronger structure…get to the chorus sooner and such. def. play around w\ when the other instruments (the ambi guitar i tracked yesterday, the drums, the vocal harmonies etc) come in and out.. leave it sparse but fill it in from time to time w\ that other stuff. this song has much potential for greatness.
I agree. After working on the lyrics a bit more, it was starting to sound a bit heavy on the verses. I got verses three and four written last night, so now I just need some lines for the chorus melody/harmony we came up with.
