Here’s another rough start for you to check out:
[audio:https://hellocomein.com/soundbox/hellomusic_greg/autoharp.mp3]I think this one, and my last post, have some potential, but they need a lot of fleshing out (i.e. removing mumbled lyrics for actual words, etc). Mike’s coming over to my place tomorrow, so perhaps he can help me finish outlining these. Anyways, not much to say here, except that this is my debut recording of the autoharp. I plan to go on tour with it next month as part of my solo act away from the hellocomein group… since we are now famous enough to split off for solo tours. Then after that, we will have the hellocomein reunion tour that will be kicked off with our appearance at the 2008 Grammy’s. So exciting that we will be back together after all those years of intense drug use and in-fighting. Busy times ahead for us!
I love the sounds of the Autoharp and the chord changes for sure. Your vocal melodies (and harmonies) are solid but maybe could be a bit more in tune. This song has a great structure so far as well. I would add some cool cosmic sounding guitar or synth burbles in the background or wind blowing sounds to add some depth…play with the orchestral chamber pop sound of this song. Maybe add in some concertina, or the harp or piano at times …but dont over do that… keep the spirit and fragility of it while adding some reverby depth.
can you post the chord changes and lyrics to this song? i want to learn it. maybe i can add something to it this week.
Will do. The vocals were just recorded on the fly to come up with something, so I’ll record for real now that there is a semblance of a melody. I’ll put up the chords when I get home tonight (have to look at the autoharp buttons to double check).
