It’s not that we’re bored or anything. Really, we are having a blast with the string of monthly mini-eps. But it is month five, and we all need a change of routine every once in a while. On this note, we introduce to you the May EP Challenge: Reduce, Reuse, and/or Recycle a Bass Track Created by Aryn Crowley and Turn It Into a New Song Using Common, Blog-Generated Lyrics.
A bit of an explanation…
When we were in Chicago, we tried to record some music but basically failed to come up with the next platinum single. Aryn, however, did generate a bass line that we all agreed has a lot of potential. We decided to take the bass line, create a common set of lyrics (or theme for lyrics), and then independently write three songs for the May EP. When this month closes, you will either hear three nearly identical songs, or three vastly different ones. We have no idea what will happen, but the tenision is killing us!! Actually, I don’t think we’ve really started composing/arranging yet, but we are gearing up for an interesting result no matter. Stay tuned here at the blog for updates as the month closes.
Good Luck, Heroes!
PS- this bass line is free for grabs, so if anyone reading this wants to join the May EP Challenge, go for it!
So we should probably write some lyrics here.. who wants to start?
maybe one person should write them or we come up with a theme…b\c i have a hard enough time writing for my own songs. no clue how to just dig in and write a song w\ others lyrically.
i think we should write a common plot line and/or theme. perhaps we could dust something off from the early days of the wiki, such as our radio adventures:
* zombies
* sci fi modern
* sci fi 1920s worlds fair era
* western\ spaghetti western
* dystopic\ postapocalyptic future
* superheroes
* 1920’s serial radio adventure
* classic horror — zombies\ghosts\vampires
* swashbuckling adventures\pirates\errol flynn etc
* mobsters\gangs\mafia
* secret societies & shadow govts… secret government conspiracy
* crime & prostitution
* illegal organ trade
* forced utopian ideals
* kungfu\grindhouse\samurai\japanese fantasy\anime
* b movie camp
man looking at that list makes me feel like the nerdiest person on the planet.. how bout 1920’s serial radio adventure.. about an errol flynn type who fights the undead?
we are pretty nerdy…
Dashing and Daring, Don Carlos is here,
in a 1920’s adventure.
With his crisp wide rimmed hat,
and his long skinny sword,
He’ll destroy the undead where they venture.
Keen olfactory sense,
is his only defense,
in his 1920’s serial radio adventure.
antiquated sterephonics
give way to recycled hydroponics
and broken tesla coils
shake with grand dramatic toil
but that serial adventure
with roads graveled in heartbreak
are distorted and encoded
with clockwork heartache
sleepy carrier pigeons
deliver the news from afar
that the only defense
is that crisp olfactory sense
