Great Wall of Mexico…

I don’t normally re-blog something that I find on other music blogs that no doubt spend more time than we do scouring for new songs and videos and such. But crap if this video for “Icky Thump” by The White Stripes isn’t awesome…nothing is. Best video I’ve seen all year. Can’t wait for this album to come out (June 19th on Warner for those who care).

UPDATE 5\25: Rolling Stone’s blog had an interesting analysis to the political tones of this video. They say they are able to stay artistic while also having a clear message on a hot issue by not releasing a traditional (and pretentious) political message (ala Sean Penn) and also by not watering down their song’s content by having a more tame video.

Additionally, Seems that the youTube clips are slowly disappearing so I had to replace with a lesser quality video. Oh well.

  1. Cool video, I like that mexican theme he’s got going on there.. and the not so subtle comment on the great wall of mexico at the end…oh political music.

  2. Meg looks great in this… both the drummer version who looks pretty adorable here… and the white-eyed hooker brothel look. Love the grittiness of this video. Really fits the feel of the song.
