Flight of the Conchords…and other media.

It has been awhile since a new HBO show has come out that showed some promise, but the upcoming Flight of the Conchords looks to fill that gap. Based on the live comedy\music performances of the New Zealand comedians, comparisons to Tenacious D are inevitable. But these guys bring a lightness to their witty banter and absurdist lyrics. Check out this clip below and I believe you can watch the first episode here.

Also be sure to check out a few good jazz features aired on NPR this past weekend. First, Joshua Redman talking about his new record, inspired by Sonny Rollins’ classic “Way Out West.” Second, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock reflect on the final recording session of the recently-passed sax legend Michael Brecker. Both are nice long form interviews with tons of great music.
