I don’t go to a concert a night or anything crazy, but I do see a fair amount of live music. Last night for instance, I went to two shows at two different venues, and caught all or parts of five bands’ sets. First up was an early show at Mercury Lounge for young U.K. synth pop band Woman’s Hour, and its opener Future Of What. Then, made the short but rainy walk down to Bowery Ballroom for opener Sore Eros, songwriter (and Sharon Van Etten’s longtime guitarist) Doug Keith, and Philly rockers The War On Drugs.
Because I shot photos of some of those sets, naturally I was front and center. And as you might expect, I was right in the line of sight for many people and their own photos they posted to Instagram. Today, I randomly decided to follow Instagram’s geo-tagging for any photos, including my own, posted last night at Bowery Ballroom — and sure enough, again and again I found myself popping up in other people’s shots.
Granted, I am pretty easy to spot since I’m often wearing my trademark dark blue and grey striped knit hat. If you look closely — in the very front row, just left of center to the stage, and just below War On Drugs’ phenomenal guitarist and frontman Adam Granduciel — there I am, and that easy to spot hat.
As one friend said, it’s a “Hipster Where’s Waldo.” Her words, not mine. Still, in that spirit, see if you can spot me in all these photos.
